Today has been a long drive from Rotorua to Paihaia we set off at 8am and had a couple of stops for elevenses (at 10:30) and then lunch and an ice cream stop. All I can say is thank goodness I only ever ask for one scoop. I once made the mistake of having two scoops and ended up getting a spoon and sharing it with himself.
The scenery is very different to South Island but in the end one cow looks like another as do the sheep! One thing we haven't missed is the smell, which Mary likened to Jimmy after a curry and a beer and a good clear out!!!!!
Mary and Jimmy have very strong Irish accents so early in the trip we asked what part of Ireland they came from. To our surprise they said they'd left Ireland over thirty years ago and lived in London. They are great company as are our other Irish couple, Mary and Joe. We reckoned with them on our trip we'd at least have him up there on our side.
When we arrived at our hotel we were amazed at its location and how beautiful it is. This is the view from our bedroom, pool in the foreground and shore beyond. It's a pity we only have two nights here.
After a quick cuppa and waiting for our bags to arrive, we had a quick swim, followed by a very relaxing soak in the jacuzzi and then dinner. It's all go and we are constantly reminded by our driver and guide that we are on a tour not a holiday we'll certainly need a rest when we get home but I wouldn't have missed any of this.
Right now the washing is in the dryer. Two loads done and one dryer takes it all. That's us clean now until we get home. Can't believe that the end of our tour is looming ever closer and how glad we are that we have our extra week.
