Friday 14th again

Tonight we went to a traditional Maori Hangi Feast. Hangi means food cooked in pits in the ground over hot rocks.

The pit waiting to be opened

Here comes the food, potatoes, carrots and stuffing

In the basket underneath there were chickens and beneath those legs of lamb.

Before having our food we were shown some traditional Maori skills and then treated to some entertainment.  The lead male singer had a wonderful voice and it would have been nice to listen to him for longer but before we knew it we were called to dinner.

The food was delicious and perfectly cooked. Pudding was steamed pud and custard and pavlova. Dad enjoyed both and I enjoyed the pavlova
